About North Atlantic Ziplines
North Atlantic Ziplines operates a zipline course above the fishing village of Petty Harbour, about 15 minutes south of St. John's. The company opened in 2010 and bills the course as the longest in Canada, strung across the rugged hills and gullies that drop toward the Atlantic.
The course has 10 lines ranging from 300 feet to 2,200 feet long, and a full tour takes roughly two to three hours. Certified guides handle the safety briefing, harnessing and each transfer between platforms, so first-timers do not need any experience. The site is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in season, and an open-air log chalet gives riders a spot to rest before or after their run.
What sets it apart is the setting. From the longer lines, riders look straight down on the colorful fishing stages of Petty Harbour and out over open ocean, and on some days whales can be seen breaching below. It pairs well with a morning on the water or a hike on the nearby East Coast Trail, and it is one of the few adrenaline activities within a short drive of downtown St. John's that works for groups, families and corporate outings.
