About Ocean Quest Adventures
Ocean Quest Adventures is a St. John's dive center and marine tour company with a retail and service shop on O'Leary Avenue and operating bases in Conception Bay South and Petty Harbour. It started out serving the scuba community in Newfoundland and Labrador and is a PADI dive center, offering training courses along with equipment sales and service.
Its best-known trips are wreck dives off Bell Island in Conception Bay, where four ships sunk during the Second World War rest on the bottom: PLM-27, SS Saganaga, Lord Strathcona and SS Rose Castle. PLM-27 is the shallowest and suits divers of all levels, while the deeper wrecks reward experienced divers. Boat dives run in spring, summer and fall. Beyond diving, the company offers snorkeling with marine life, zodiac ocean safaris, sea kayaking tours, cod fishing trips and private boat charters.
Few operators around St. John's cover this much ground under one roof. A visiting diver can rent gear, take a course and book a wreck charter in the same place, and non-divers in the group can join a zodiac or kayak trip instead. The Bell Island wrecks sit a short boat ride from shore, which gives the shop a draw well beyond the local market.
