About Khao Lak Explorer Dive Center
Khao Lak Explorer Dive Center was founded in 2010 by a group of dive instructors who wanted to run Similan trips their own way, with small groups and instructors who stay with the same guests all trip. The PADI 5 Star shop sits just off the main road in Khao Lak, a short ride from the Thap Lamu pier where the boats depart.
The core of the operation is liveaboard diving in the Similan Islands, with itineraries that take in Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, and Richelieu Rock across two to five nights. Day trips by speedboat cover the Similans and the local wrecks, and the center teaches the full PADI ladder from Discover Scuba Diving through Divemaster, in several languages.
Because the founders still work the boats, guests deal with instructors rather than a sales desk. Group sizes stay small, gear is checked by the people who will dive with you, and the team is quick to match nervous first-timers or experienced photographers with the right guide. Hotel pickup across Khao Lak is included on trip days.
