About Raftabout
Raftabout is a whitewater rafting operator based at Okere Falls on State Highway 33, running guided raft trips on the Kaituna River — home to the 7-metre Tutea Falls, the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world. They've been taking groups over the falls and through the Grade 5 rapids of the Kaituna since the early days of Rotorua's adventure tourism scene.
Their primary trip is the Kaituna River Rafting experience, a roughly two-hour adventure covering 14 rapids across 5 kilometres of river. Groups of up to seven per raft are guided by experienced river guides, and the trip is suitable for anyone over 13 years old with reasonable swimming ability — no prior rafting experience needed. All safety gear, wetsuits, and equipment are provided. They also run scenic rafting options for those who want the river experience without the big drops.
Raftabout's base is right near the Kaituna put-in, which means less time on a bus and more time on the river. The operation is smaller and more personal than some of the larger rafting companies in the area, which means flexible scheduling and guides who actually remember your name. For visitors who want the Tutea Falls experience without the production-line feel, Raftabout delivers.
