About Skyward Mountaineering
Skyward Mountaineering is a boutique mountain guiding service headquartered in the San Juan Mountains, anchored by renowned IFMGA-certified alpinist Vince Anderson. Operating since 1996, the company focuses on technical ice climbing, rock climbing, peak ascents, and ski mountaineering across Colorado, Utah, and beyond.
Services include guided ice climbing in the Ouray Ice Park and on backcountry multi-pitch routes around Ouray, Silverton, and Telluride, as well as rock climbing courses from single-pitch cragging to big-wall objectives. In winter they run backcountry ski touring and avalanche education, while summer brings alpine climbing itineraries on some of Colorado's most challenging 13ers and 14ers.
As an AMGA-accredited guide service, Skyward adheres strictly to the American Mountain Guides Association Scope of Practice, meaning every guide has undergone rigorous assessment of risk management, technical skills, and ethical standards. The small-group, custom format means clients get focused attention whether they are first-time ice climbers or experienced alpinists tackling a new objective.
