About Upstream Flyfishing
Upstream Flyfishing is a specialist fly fishing guide service based in Wilderswil, just outside Interlaken, run by local guide Pascal Zeller. Since 2014, Pascal has been guiding anglers on Lake Brienz and Lake Thun from a purpose-built six-metre fishing boat with twin casting platforms, targeting lake trout, pike, perch, and Arctic char in the crystal-clear alpine waters of the Bernese Oberland.
Guided trips typically run a full day, launching at first light for the best chance at trophy lake trout during the spring and early summer season. Pike fishing on the fly is available from May through December, with streamers cast along weed beds and drop-offs where predator fish ambush baitfish. Pascal supplies all tackle, flies, and wading gear, making the service accessible to travelling anglers who do not want to carry rods on a European trip. Half-day sessions and introductory lessons are available for beginners.
What makes Upstream Flyfishing special is the rare combination of alpine scenery and quality fishing — casting to rising trout with the Eiger as a backdrop is an experience few other destinations can match. Pascal holds Swiss fishing licences for both lakes and several tributary rivers, and his intimate knowledge of seasonal patterns means clients consistently hook fish. The operation is deliberately small — one boat, one guide — ensuring a personal, unhurried day on the water.
