About Zanzibar SeaWalk
Zanzibar SeaWalk offers a one-of-a-kind underwater walking experience that lets visitors explore coral reefs and marine life while breathing naturally through a specially designed helmet — no swimming ability, diving certification, or scuba training required. It is the only operation of its kind on the island and one of the few in all of East Africa, making it a genuine bucket-list activity for Zanzibar visitors.
Participants walk along the ocean floor at a depth of around three to four metres, surrounded by tropical fish, sea urchins, starfish, and colourful coral formations. Each session lasts roughly 25 minutes underwater, with a full safety briefing, equipment fitting, and boat transfer to the dive site included. They also offer combination packages that bundle the sea walk with snorkeling excursions, jet ski rides, and banana boat trips for a full day on the water.
The concept is especially popular with families and non-swimmers who want an immersive ocean experience without the complexity of scuba. The team handles all logistics from their beach base, including hotel transfers along the coast. Safety standards are high — the helmets maintain a constant air supply from the surface, and trained guides walk alongside every group underwater. It is a genuinely unique addition to the Zanzibar activity scene that appeals well beyond the usual dive-and-snorkel crowd.
