About Algonquin Adventure Tours
Algonquin Adventure Tours is a locally owned guiding company based in Dwight, between Huntsville and the west gate of Algonquin Provincial Park. Founders Dave and Amanda Simpson have been running trips for about 30 years, combining Dave's canoe background with Amanda's work as a writer and nutritionist.
The signature day trip is a six-hour guided canoe tour across historic Canoe Lake, with an easy 300-meter portage and a meal by the water, giving first-timers a taste of canoe tripping without camping overnight. For longer stays, the company runs guided multiday canoe camping trips in the park with gear and meals supplied. In winter the focus shifts to guided snowshoe outings, and the calendar also includes photography and canoe skills workshops.
Food is a real part of the pitch here. Meals are made from scratch with produce from the owners' organic garden, and every guest gets free photos from their tour. For visitors who want Algonquin Park with an experienced guide handling routes, gear and meals, it is a well-reviewed local choice a short drive from Huntsville.
