Great Escapes Kayak Expeditions is the original kayak tour outfit in North Myrtle Beach, running guided paddling trips and equipment rentals since 2008. They operate from the Cherry Grove area, launching into the salt-water creeks, tidal marshes, and barrier island waterways that wind behind the North Myrtle Beach shoreline — some of the most ecologically rich paddling territory on the Grand Strand.
Tour options include the Cherry Grove Marsh eco-tour, the Waccamaw River nature paddle, and excursions to the undeveloped Waities Island, a barrier island accessible only by boat. Guides lead small groups through narrow marsh channels where dolphins, sea turtles, stingrays, blue herons, and ospreys are regular sightings. For paddlers who prefer to explore on their own, Great Escapes rents single and tandem kayaks as well as stand-up paddleboards by the hour or half day, with launch-point delivery available.
