About Natterer See
Natterer See is a lakeside holiday and adventure resort nestled in the mountains just seven kilometres southwest of Innsbruck, in the village of Natters. Centred around a pristine alpine swimming lake with an average summer water temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, the resort combines camping and glamping accommodation with a comprehensive range of water sports and outdoor activities — making it both a destination in its own right and a convenient day trip from the city.
Water sports are the main draw: stand-up paddleboard and kayak rentals are available from early June through mid-October, and a dedicated kayak school — Source to Sea, run by instructor Bernhard Steidl — offers trial courses, guided river tours, canoe polo sessions, and SUP lessons right on the lake. Beyond the water, the resort features a giant aqua park inflatable course, sandy beach for families, and direct access to hiking and mountain bike trails in the surrounding forests. A mega water slide and children's bathing bay round out the family offerings.
Natterer See's setting is hard to beat — a turquoise mountain lake framed by alpine peaks, just a short bus ride from Innsbruck's old town. The resort has invested heavily in glamping options including floating homes and safari tents, so visitors can combine adventure activities with comfortable lakeside stays. It is one of the few places near Innsbruck where you can swim, paddle, and camp in a single location.
