About ASI Alpinschule Innsbruck
ASI Alpinschule Innsbruck is one of Austria's oldest and most respected mountain guide schools, founded in 1963 by pioneering alpinist Hannes Gasser. Headquartered in Natters just outside Innsbruck, ASI has grown from a small Tyrolean guiding operation into a globally active adventure travel company operating in over 70 countries, while maintaining its roots in the Alps that surround its home base.
Locally, ASI offers an extensive programme of guided alpine experiences in the Innsbruck region and greater Tirol: ski touring, snowshoeing, via ferrata, rock climbing, mountaineering courses, glacier trekking, and multi-day hut-to-hut traverses. All trips are led by certified mountain guides and hiking leaders, with group sizes kept small for safety and personal attention. Equipment lists and fitness recommendations are provided for each trip, and gear rental can be arranged through partner shops.
What distinguishes ASI is the depth of its expertise — over 200 professional guides work under the ASI banner, and the organisation has been training mountain leaders and running expeditions for more than 60 years. Their Innsbruck-area programme is ideal for visitors who want to go beyond resort terrain and experience genuine alpine wilderness with a qualified guide at their side. ASI is a certified member of the Austrian Association of Alpine Schools.
