About Phi Phi Barakuda
Phi Phi Barakuda is a long-established dive center in the middle of Tonsai Village, about 80 meters from the pier and easy to spot by the big blue scuba tank mounted on its first floor. The multilingual team teaches PADI courses year round and takes pride in walking complete beginners through their first breaths underwater without rushing them.
The course list runs from Discover Scuba experiences through Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue with Emergency First Response, and a range of specialties, and Barakuda is one of the few shops on the island that also teaches freediving. Fun divers join daily trips into the Phi Phi Marine Park, where leopard sharks, seahorses, and mantis shrimp turn up on the reefs around Phi Phi Leh and the Bida islands.
The shop keeps groups small and puts safety and reef care ahead of volume, with well-maintained rental equipment and briefings that cover buoyancy and no-touch technique before every dive. Its central location makes logistics simple: guests can walk from any Tonsai hotel, sort paperwork in the morning, and be on the boat before the day heats up.
