About Smylies Tours

Smylies Tours runs 4WD ski-field shuttles from Christchurch and Springfield, alongside Smylies Accommodation in Springfield, which has a hostel, motels and Bowler Cottage, built in 1870. 2026 was its 40th year.

In 2026 it ran day returns to Porters Alpine Resort from Friday to Sunday and one-way transfers to the club fields. Ski and board rental is mainly for shuttle and stay guests, with outside renters taken on prior notice, and it hires more than 30 nutcracker sets with harnesses.

For Castle Hill climbers it hires 15 Edelrid bouldering crash pads, shoes and brushes by the day. It also hires rental vehicles.
