About Opeongo Outfitters
Opeongo Outfitters is an Algonquin Park outfitter on Highway 60 in Whitney, near the park's east gate at the far end of the Highway 60 corridor that starts in Huntsville. It serves paddlers heading into the eastern side of the park, including Lake Opeongo, the largest lake in Algonquin.
The core business is canoe and kayak rentals, backed by complete outfitting packages that cover the gear a group needs for a backcountry trip. The shop delivers canoes to access points, offers free campground delivery along the Highway 60 corridor for rentals of three days or more, and runs a water taxi and shuttle service to shorten long paddles. Its store stocks camping gear, hiking boots, clothing, topographic maps, paddles and life jackets, and it claims the largest selection of fishing tackle in the Algonquin area.
For groups driving in from Huntsville to camp along Highway 60, delivery to the campsite means no roof racks and no hauling boats. The store also sells used canoes and kayaks, from kids kayaks to featherweight tripping canoes, and the Moccasin House gift shop on site is a handy last stop before heading home.
