About Quadra Island Kayaks & Adventures
Quadra Island Kayaks and Adventures operates from the waterfront in Heriot Bay on Quadra Island, a short ferry ride from Campbell River. The base looks straight across to Rebecca Spit Provincial Park, and the Discovery Islands around it are among the best sea kayaking areas in British Columbia.
Guided day tours are the core of the business, and no paddling experience is needed to join one. For those with more time, multi-day kayak expeditions head deeper into the island chain, camping along the way. The company also runs wildlife and Zodiac tours for guests who would rather cover more ground on the water. Paddlers with some experience can rent kayaks for self-guided trips from the Heriot Bay launch. Along the shoreline, guests often see harbor seals, porpoises, dolphins and bald eagles, along with busy intertidal life at low tide.
Being on the island is the draw. Launching from Heriot Bay puts paddlers in sheltered water right away, with no long crossing from Vancouver Island first. Beginners can build confidence close to shore, and experienced paddlers can plan longer routes through the islands, all from the same dock.
