About Adventures on the Gorge
Adventures on the Gorge is the largest adventure resort in the New River Gorge, spread across a wooded property on the canyon rim at Lansing, West Virginia. The company grew out of several of the region's original rafting outfitters and now runs river, aerial and land trips inside and around New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.
Whitewater is the core of the operation, with Upper New float trips for families, full-day Lower New runs through the big Class IV-V rapids, and fall Gauley River expeditions during the six-week dam release season. Away from the water they run the Treetops Zipline Canopy Tour, Gravity Ziplines, the TimberTrek aerial adventure park, half and full-day guided rock climbing and rappelling, jet boat rides, fly fishing instruction, horseback riding, UTV tours and flatwater kayak and paddleboard trips on Summersville Lake.
The resort side sets them apart from single-activity outfitters. Guests can book cabins, glamping tents, RV sites and vacation homes on the property, eat at several on-site restaurants, and string together a multi-day itinerary without moving their car. Group bookings, weddings and corporate retreats are a large part of the business, and most activities can be bundled into combination packages.
