About Mount Washington Alpine Resort
Mount Washington Alpine Resort is the main ski hill on Vancouver Island, set in the mountains above the Comox Valley near Courtenay, about an hour's drive south of Campbell River. It sits next to Strathcona Provincial Park and draws skiers and riders from across the island every winter, then switches to mountain biking and hiking in the warmer months.
In winter the resort runs alpine skiing and snowboarding across more than 30 runs, along with a separate Nordic area for cross-country skiing. The alpine rental shop outfits skiers and snowboarders, the Nordic center has its own rentals and retail, and the snow school offers group lessons, family programs, camps and clinics. In summer the lifts serve a downhill bike park, and the resort bike shop rents bikes and gear for riders who arrive without their own.
Slopeside lodging at the base lets guests ski in and out in winter and ride in and out of the bike park in summer. For Campbell River visitors, it is the closest place to rent a full ski or bike setup and get lift-served terrain, all in one day trip.
