About North Ridge Ranch
North Ridge Ranch is a family-run dog sledding operation on Williamsport Road, a short drive north of downtown Huntsville. Owners Brad and Leah Fetterley have kept the kennel for more than two decades, and it is home to a pack of over 60 Alaskan Huskies.
Tours run on about 500 acres of private trails owned by the ranch. The ranch offers one-hour and half-day outings, and groups usually head out in four or five sleds. Before leaving the yard, every guest gets a lesson in sled driving basics, so guests can drive their own team rather than just ride along. The season opens in mid-December each year, and gift certificates are available for anyone planning ahead.
What sets the ranch apart is time with the dogs themselves. Guests can meet the pack, learn how Alaskan Huskies differ from other sled breeds and see how the kennel cares for its animals, which is a big part of why reviews keep coming back to the dogs and the hosts. It pairs well with a Huntsville winter weekend of skiing or snowmobiling.
