About Live Life In Tents
Live Life In Tents is an adventure company based at Margaree Forks on the Cabot Trail, in the Margaree Valley on the west side of Cape Breton Island. The main base has a small campground and food truck, and a second shop at Ingonish Beach, inside Cape Breton Highlands National Park, handles paddling on Freshwater Lake.
On the Margaree River the team rents canoes, kayaks, paddleboards and river tubes, with half-day, full-day and overnight canoe trips on the river system. The Ingonish Beach location rents single and tandem kayaks and paddleboards in 90-minute blocks. Beyond rentals, the company runs guided hikes, kayak tours, packrafting in spring, multi-day expeditions such as a 60 km crossing of the highlands, and winter camping and backcountry ski trips. Camping gear rental, walk-in campsites, glamping tents and A-frames are also on offer.
Few operators on the island cover this many seasons. A visitor can float the Margaree in July, paddle Freshwater Lake the next day, and come back in winter for a guided backcountry trip, all booked with the same small-group outfit.
