Seven ski and snowboard counters in Sun Peaks, from the resort counter at the Village Day Lodge to a fitter who drives the gear to your condo, plus the Nordic shop out by the Orient chair. After that, the single road up from Kamloops, three mountains sorted by ability, and the bike park that takes over in June.
Which Sun Peaks rental counter should you use?
Pick by gear and opening hours, because six of the seven ski and board counters are a short walk apart on Creekside Way and the seventh, Black Tie, comes to you. The resort's Sun Peaks Rentals at the Village Day Lodge charges $77 CAD a day for a standard adult package in 2026-27, takes 10% off orders placed by midnight two days out, and knocks another 15% off rentals of three days or more. McSporties stays open until 8 p.m., Jardines and Elevation credit demo days toward skis you buy, and Black Tie fits you in your condo.
What happens in Sun Peaks once the snow is gone?
Ride the bike park, with 89 km of lift-access trail off the Sunburst and Sundance Express (June 13 to September 27 in 2026). Off the bike, paddle McGillivray Lake, ride a horse up Mt. Morrisey, or play British Columbia's highest golf course. The alpine flowers peak from mid-July to mid-August.
Eight counters, one village
Two resort shops share one price list and one online store, four independents work out of the village lodges, the resort runs a Nordic counter by Parking Lot 5, and Black Tie delivers here from the 2026-27 season. Freefall is the only one you can't book online.

Canadian dollars before tax, from the 2026-27 rates the shops had posted three weeks before the November 21 opening. Rows without a number belong to shops that give the price at checkout, on the phone or in their own rate sheet.
Trail building started in 1999 and the park turned 25 in 2024. In 2026 the lifts ran 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through September 7, and it was still the third-best summer on record despite the August wildfire emergency in the Okanagan.

Park bikes need front suspension and disc brakes on both wheels.

Rental counters along Creekside Way
Street numbers climb from the lifts to the top of the village. The Nordic counter and Black Tie's base sit off this strip.
Sun Peaks has one way in. From Kamloops you head north on Highway 5 to Heffley Creek, then climb Tod Mountain Road. It's 56 km (35 mi), about 45 minutes.
Kamloops to the village
Distances are what's left to Sun Peaks village.
From Vancouver it's 4.5 to 5 hours via Highway 1 and the Coquihalla from Hope, and Calgary is about 8 hours on Highway 1. Kamloops airport is the closest, 45 minutes away.

Daily in winter from the Village Day Lodge, 8 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. and again 5:40 to 9:40 p.m. on last season's timetable. The west loop runs Fairways, Mountain View and Burfield Drive; the east loop goes up to Lookout Ridge Drive.
Allow 5.5 to 6 hours through the Sumas crossing, and the resort suggests 6.5 to 7.5 once you add the border and winter weather.
YLW is 2 hours 45 minutes away. Cheers Okanagan Tours runs a shuttle from there, booked ahead.
Ebus and Rider Express reach Kamloops from Vancouver, Kelowna, Calgary and Edmonton, and VIA Rail's Vancouver train stops at Kamloops North. Pre-book a shuttle or take a taxi for the last 45 minutes.
Free. P3 serves the Village Day Lodge, the Sports School and the Sundance Kids Centre; P5 serves the Morrisey and Orient chairs and the Nordic trails; P1 sits at the Burfield chair. Street parking is banned across the whole municipality from November 1 to April 30. Parking map →

The resort sends drivers to DriveBC before setting off, and the province's winter tire signs apply from October 1. DriveBC →
4,400 acres on three mountains, which Sun Peaks bills as Canada's second largest ski area, with 13 lifts and 144 runs over 896 m (2,940 ft) of vertical. The top lift reaches 2,080 m at Top of the World, and Mt. Tod's own summit sits just outside the boundary.
Start in the beginner-only area by the village, then try Gentle Giant and Homesteader. 5 Mile is the long green from Top of the World back to the lodges. Sun Hosts lead free mountain tours at 9:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. for anyone happy on greens.
Blue runs are 58% of the terrain and spread over all three mountains. The West Bowl Express, a $12 million lift opened in 2024, added Whyte's Ride, named for co-founder Donald Whyte. It runs a shorter day, 10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
The Headwalls (in full view of the Sunburst Bar + Eatery), two alpine bowls and 16 gladed areas. Gil's was out of bounds until 2014, and opening it is what lifted Sun Peaks to second largest in the country.
Named for Harry Burfield, it's the longest fixed-grip chair in North America, and one photographer's caption for its mid-station calls it "the 22 minute ride to the top." The Crystal chair now ends at Top of the World too, so you can skip the Burfield's upper half.
Ten acres top to bottom off the Sundance Express, with more than 45 features across Base Camp, Basic Training, Flight School and Drop Zone, where jumps run 15 to 60 ft. The Powder Ventures Cross Course, a dirt-built ski cross track from 2024, sits beside Drop Zone.
No night skiing on the main lifts. The Village Platter and the carpets turn until 7 p.m., and the Alpine Fondue & Ski evening finishes with a guided headlamp run down 5 Mile.

Nearly six runs in ten are blue, on three different mountains.
Lodges at the lifts, four Kids Adventure Zones and the free Sun Host tours.
35 km groomed from the village, and a chairlift to the top of Holy Cow.
A beginner-only area and the 5 Mile green, though just 10% of runs are green.
Headwalls, West Bowl and Gil's, on a hill that tops out at 896 m of vertical.
Our scores out of 5, by the kind of skier in your group.
The Sports School runs from the Village Day Lodge. Away from the lifts, winter here means cross-country trails you can ski with your dog, sled dogs, snowshoe nights and an avalanche course every weekend from December 19.
Ski, snowboard and Nordic lessons, with tots programs from 3 to 6 on skis and 3 to 8 on a board.
Their website →The 1968 Olympic giant slalom champion hosts a free welcome in the Sun Peaks Grand's library corner, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Sunday from December 20 to March 21. Groups of up to seven could ski a half day with her for $1,000 last season, all of it going to the Sun Peaks Education Society.
Their website →35 km groomed and track-set plus 19 km of backcountry trail. A Nordic ticket buys two rides up the Morrisey Express to the top of Holy Cow, and a dog-friendly route leads to the McGillivray Lake Outpost warming hut, open 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Their website →Dog sled runs from $350 a sled (ages 4 and up) and two-hour snowmobile tours on Ski-Doos from $315, with a $25 insurance fee per sled. Pickup is at the Village Day Lodge, beside Masa's.

Billed as the locals' favorite for coffee, in the Sundance Lodge.
Organic Cherry Hill coffee with vegan and gluten-free food, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Crêpes and a Twisted Goat blend called "tighten your boots," in the Hearthstone Lodge.
Delivers anywhere in the resort. That Churro Place parks its truck by the Sunburst Lodge and the toboggan hill.
Plenty of kitchens shut between the bike park and opening day. The Steakhouse at Sun Peaks Lodge reopens on December 4, 2026.
Tickets, dogs and timing
Lift tickets cost less online than at the window, and the West Bowl Express shuts earlier than the rest of the hill.
