Four rental counters on Connaught Drive and Patricia Street and one in Marmot's Caribou Chalet, the $12 shuttle up the 20 km park road, sleigh rides on Pyramid Lake, and the rivers and lakes Jasper rents out from May.
Should you rent in Jasper or up at Marmot Basin?
For several days on the hill, rent at Marmot. The Standard package is $69 a day, and the shop in the Caribou Chalet keeps your rental skis overnight for free, so nothing rides back down the road. Reservations there are by phone on 1-780-852-3816, two days ahead or more. Rent in town if you'd rather book online or collect gear the evening you arrive: Totem, Jasper Outdoors and Jasper Sports all take online reservations, and Jasper Outdoors doesn't close until 10pm on Fridays.
Once the snow goes, what's worth booking in Jasper?
Mostly time on the water, with four rafting companies on the Athabasca and the Sunwapta, from a $97 Class II trip with Rocky Mountain River Guides to Maligne Adventures' Fraser River runs, which no other Jasper outfit is licensed for. Jasper Outdoors rents canoes, kayaks and SUPs, and Translucid opens its SUP school on Lake Edith around June 6.
Connaught Drive, Patricia Street and the Caribou Chalet
Two rental shops sit on Connaught Drive and two on Patricia Street, one of them for touring gear only, and Marmot rents at the base. Only Marmot prints a full package price on its website; the three downtown shops that book online show theirs once you pick dates.

Prices are Marmot Basin's for 2026-27, in Canadian dollars with GST on top. A package there needs a $250 debit deposit, and damage fees run $8.40 to $16.80. Totem adds a $5 damage fee.
Paddlers spread out over Lake Edith, Lac Beauvert, Pyramid and Maligne, while the rafts work the rivers south of town and, with one company, the Fraser. Some park landmarks are still shut after the 2024 fire, so check Parks Canada's open and closed list before you plan a day around one.
The Sunwapta is Class III, and Rocky Mountain River Guides charges $15 more for it with a town pick-up than if you drive yourself.
Athabasca Mile 5 at $97 an adult or $48.50 a child, the Athabasca Falls run at $117, and the Sunwapta at $132 with pick-up in town.

There's no lodging at the base, so every ski day starts in town, and what you're really choosing is whether your rental skis spend the night up at the chalet or ride home in the car.
From the Jasper shops to the Marmot lots
The shuttle's morning run in 2026-27, and what slows the drive early in the season.
Pyramid Lake Road heads north out of town to the Pyramid Bench, where Marmot Basin also runs the riding stables, and on to the lake under Pyramid Mountain. It gets used year round, with sleighs on the ice in winter and canoes and trail horses once the season turns.

Edmonton International is the closest international airport, and Jasper is 370 km west of the city, about four hours by car. Calgary is 404 km away and close to five hours, most of it on the Icefields Parkway.
SunDog runs the Jasper to Marmot Basin shuttle from December 18, 2026 to April 11, 2027, at $12 return for any age. There's no cash on board, so book ahead by phone, at the Marmot Town Store or at Marmot guest services. The first bus reaches the hill at 8:50am and the second at 10:30, and buses head back down at 1:30pm and 3:00pm.
Forest Park Hotel, Marmot Lodge and Tonquin Inn at 8:00am, then Lobstick Lodge, Chateau Jasper and the Jasper Inn at 8:05, the Crimson and the Astoria at 8:10, Whistler's Inn at 8:15, and the Pentecostal Church at 822 Connaught Drive at 8:20.
SunDog leaves the airport at 3:00pm from bus parking at Door 10 on the arrivals floor, and West Edmonton Mall at 4:00pm from Door 50 by the water park. Going home, it leaves Jasper at 7:00am. Magic Bus Tours sells Edmonton day trips to Marmot with the lift ticket included.
Brewster Express leaves downtown Calgary at 11:00am and the airport at 12:15pm, with stops at Banff and Lake Louise on the way north, and leaves Jasper at 8:30am for the return. Skis, boards and bikes cost $30 plus tax per item.
VIA Rail's Canadian and the Jasper to Prince Rupert train each stop in Jasper three times a week, and Rocky Mountaineer uses the same station.
An adult day in Jasper National Park is $12.25 and a senior day $10.75, a family or group pays $24.50, and anyone 17 or younger gets in at no charge. A year-long Discovery Pass costs $83.50 for one adult, or $167.50 to cover a family or group. Parks Canada fees →
Marmot's four lots fill in order of arrival, and they're laid out so you can ski back to the car for lunch. Reserved spots in Lot 1 cost $24.99 a day on Fridays, weekends and holidays. Taxis are Caribou Cabs at (780) 931-2334 and Mountain Express at (780) 852-4555.
1,720 acres on five faces, 91 runs and 914 m of vertical, with more than 440 cm of dry Alberta snow in an average season. Adult day tickets cost $139 to $175 at the window this winter and start at $132 online. A Mountain Collective pass covers two days here and half-price tickets after that. Neither Epic nor Ikon shows up on Marmot's pass pages.
Seven lifts. The Canadian Rockies Express, built in 2009, is the longest high-speed quad in the Canadian Rockies at 2.3 km and climbs 596 m in under eight minutes. The Knob Quad opened in 2023-24 and tops out 101 m above the old double it replaced.
Beginners stay on the Magic Carpet and the School House triple with a $40 learning-area ticket. The All Day Kids Camp for ages 6 to 12 runs 10am to 3:30pm and costs $225 with a lesson, lunch, a lift ticket and rentals.
Tres Hombres, off the Paradise chair, drops 367 m without a tree, north-facing at 32 to 45 degrees, through five entrance gates. Marmot Cirque adds 62 acres above the trees between the Knob and Eagle Ridge chairs, and Eagle East has 12 double blacks among its 13 runs. From the Knob Quad, a short hike reaches McCready's Choice.
The big terrain park is on Lower Lift Line under the Eagle Express, with two small rail parks at the bottom of Eagle Ridge and to skier's right of the Mid Chalet.
The Caribou Chalet cafeteria at the base runs 8:30 to 3:30 and puts warming tents on the deck. Mid-mountain, the Paradise Chalet buildings are the oldest on the mountain, and Charlie's Bar there pours until a 3pm last call.
Caribou closures shut the backcountry off from the resort, so there are no gates out of bounds. Avalanche gear practice happens at Beacon Basin, on the hill.

Marmot teaches on the hill. Winter tours leave from offices on Connaught Drive, and with Maligne Canyon still closed, the ice walks now go to Pleckaitis Canyon instead.
A private hour costs $198 in the morning or $169 after lunch for up to five people, and a five-hour day $760. Expert and terrain park lessons are private only.
